Daily Store Opening Checklist

Every check a store manager completes before the shutter goes up.

A daily store opening checklist is the list of checks a store manager completes before the shutter goes up, so the store opens clean, lit, stocked and ready to bill. For an exclusive brand outlet it covers the facade, window, floor, mannequins, trial rooms, billing counter, cash float, grooming and safety. The Store Manager fills it on the store phone in the first 15 minutes of the day, with live photos stamped with GPS and time. The Area Manager reviews it the same morning. Any item marked No raises a ticket with an owner and a deadline, and a fail on the cash float or the fire exit is escalated at once, before the first customer walks in.

Free. No form. The workbook has the same columns as the table below, with the score formula and a fatal-item check in place.

Every item, with the question the store manager answers on the phone.

Score = weight of items answered Yes ÷ weight of items not marked N/A, out of 100. Pass mark 90. A failed fatal item caps the score at zero and raises a ticket to the area manager.

In BorentisOps

The same template, with proof.

Loaded into BorentisOps, each required photo is live, GPS and time-stamped, so a photo from yesterday or another store does not pass. Where the brand has a docket or display standard, Drishti scores the photo against it and marks the misses. Every fail raises a ticket with an owner and a deadline, and the area manager sees the store on a heat map before the next visit.

The checklist runs offline and syncs when signal returns, in Hindi, English and Hinglish, and the operations score sits next to the store's selling score from Borentis Floor on one store card. Pricing is per store, so every store manager and staff member in the store is on the app.

FAQs

About this template.

How long does the daily store opening checklist take?

About 15 minutes for one person walking the store with a phone. Most items are a Yes or No with a live photo, so the time goes into walking the floor, not typing. Stores that open at 10:30 usually start the checklist at 10:00, which leaves room to fix a dead sign letter or a missing price talker before the shutter goes up. Flagship stores with two floors may need 20 to 25 minutes.

Which items are fatal on an opening checklist?

Keep fatal items few, so they mean something. In this template only two are fatal: the opening cash float, because a mismatch at opening hides a loss from the night before, and the fire exit, because a blocked or unlit exit is a safety failure that no display standard can offset. A fatal fail raises a ticket at once and alerts the Area Manager, whatever the rest of the score says.

Do the photos have to be taken live?

Yes. In BorentisOps the camera opens inside the checklist and every photo carries a GPS and time stamp, so a picture from yesterday or from the gallery cannot be submitted. For the window and mannequins, Drishti, the visual AI, scores the photo against the brand's current docket and flags a missing prop or the wrong outfit, which saves the Area Manager from checking every image by eye.

Can I import this template into BorentisOps?

Yes. The Excel download keeps the same columns BorentisOps uses: section, item, question, answer type, photo rule, weight and fatal flag, so it imports as a checklist without retyping. A Borentis onboarding person maps the roles and stores, sets who fills it and who reviews it, and schedules it so it reaches the right phone at the right time. You can edit, add or remove items before or after the import.
